About the Captain and The Rig

Captain Charlie is USCG certified and brings over 20 years of fishing experience to Reel Joy Fishing Charters. Growing up in the Philippines, Charlie’s passion for fishing began early. From fishing the rivers to going offshore in small, modified canoes, as long as he was in or near the water, he was happy. Charlie then moved to Wisconsin, where he later chased muskies until he joined the Army. From 2011 to 2018, he served in the Army, focusing on fishing in areas around Wilmington, North Carolina, and the Cape Fear River. After leaving the military, Captain Charlie pursued his dream of starting a charter business to bring joy to people who want to fish and find adventure. He relocated to Jacksonville, where he has continued to share his love for fishing with others.

The Reel Joy is a Hydra-sports, measuring 22 feet, fully rewired and equipped with a brand-new Yamaha F200 that guarantee a smooth and powerful ride even on the open seas.
